Last week (or was it 2 weeks ago?), I posted a photo of my newly-shaped brows on Instagram. I wasn't planning on blogging about my quick trip to the waxing salon but one of my IG followers suggested that I also post the before and after photos of my brows. Well, in that case, I might as well make a short post about the entire experience, right?
Here it is.. :)

Right before Christmas break ended few weeks ago, I did my tita's makeup for a wedding she was invited to. She just had her brows done at Lay Bare that time. And oh, how I forgot how vital neatly looking brows are to complete a polished look! Her brows looked clean, nicely-shaped and most importantly, they framed her face amazingly. I almost busted out of her condo running to ATC to get my brows fixed as well. Naaah, I have the self-control not to do that. I waited for another week while I decide whether to go to Lay Bare or to BrowHaus. My decision was made when my cousin said she also had hers done at Lay Bare - I've always loved her brows!
So yeah, I had it done at Lay Bare, Waltermart Makati branch. :)

| Lay Bare uses a different kind of thread to remove the hair. Organica, an organic thread, claims to get more hair in one go and is less painful. |
Some of my regular readers here prolly already know what I did with my brows which forced me to leave it untouched or months as I let it grow back. But for the benefit of those who are new here, I'll summarize it for you. :)
I was planning to create a Halloween Look for this blog last November and the look I was trying called for a thinner, more arched pair of brows. So pluck! Pluck! Pluck! Wait, I just went overboard and plucked waaaay too much! It took me few minutes before it sunk in to me and realize what I did. I seriously regretted even touching my decent-looking brows in the first place. Anyway, I decided to just let it grow and not shape it myself for the time being. I just had to stand back and let it - including the stray hairs - grow so that it would fill in my brows until it comes to the point when I can finally have it reshaped by professionals.
| Sorry about the photos. These are the only ones I could find. :/ |
I had to endure more than 2 months of messy brows because of it and I called it "brow rehab". Now that the long wait is finally over, let me show you what my brows look like now. :)
Here's my newly shaped brows in less than 10 minutes!
I have nothing on by brows (photo below) except baby oil, I think, which was used to remove the makeup before threading.

Now, doing my brow makeup routine will be so much easier for me since all I have to do now is to follow my brow shape in defining and filling instead of creating a whole new different shape and concealing the stray hairs like what I've been doing during my "brow rehab" months. For less than Php 150, Lay Bare really did a great job!
Few tips if you're getting your legs waxed or your brows threaded:
If you are among the few who are getting waxed for the first time or ordinarily have low tolerance for pain, you could take an anti-histamine or pain killers before waxing to prevent bumps or irritation. Also, girls, don't attempt to get waxed during or few days before and after your monthly period because our skin is much more sensitive during those times. Thus, making the pain from waxing almost unbearable.
After waxing, we are not allowed to run water or let the area get wet for 4 hours. But after a day or two, it is advisable to exfoliate the skin with a Loofa sponge or a gentle body scrub to prevent the dead skin from accumulating in areas that can become ingrown such as the bikini line, upper thighs, underarms and calves. And if necessary, avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas as this may result in irritation and ingrown hairs or the tiny skin bumps we normally see when the hair grows back.
FYI, I was not paid by Lay Bare for this post. I paid for their services with my own money.
I'm totally loving my slightly arched brows! I no longer look snoob-ish and mataray.
What do you think? :)

I don't trust anyone with regards to shaping my brows. I think that because of its weird shape, people tend to make it look weirder than it already is.
ReplyDeleteI guess I will be putting my brows on rehab too. I over-plucked them haha! How did you conceal stray hairs when your brows were on rehad stage?
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your IG post about the brow rehab, I thought of undergoing it too. I think I got too obsessed with my brows that I shaved it too much, it doesn't fit my face shape anymore... (Or is it only me?) =D
ReplyDeleteI want to have perfect brows when my school interview comes. You know, first impressions last! Teehee!!! =D
i love lay bare.nagincrease sila ng price pero love ko parin sila :)

looks so clean and polished. ang galing :)
DeleteI also had my brows done at lay bare, but since I have low tolerance for pain, tears were rolling while it was being threaded. It was really embarrassing! But, as they say, no pain no gain! Now, I just follow what they did for my brows :) Malinis nga, we just have to maintain it :)

Wow. "Brow rehab" sounds good. I find brow maintenance a hassle and I don't feel confident doing so. Guess I have to seek a professional's assistance.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I got the package from you, Celline. Thanks so much! <3 <3 <3
Never tried threading before.. Does it hurt Celline? Will try this if di na ako confident sa pag mi-maintain ng brows ko. haha Btw, Laybare did a good job on your brows. I hope you got a whole-face pic for this :)
ReplyDeletehi
ReplyDeleteYour post was just in time sis coz i'll be having my brows done sometime soon. I need to let the professionals do it for me or I might hurt myself. I did a bit of cleaning though but I really want to try threading as well. :)
