Before 2012 ended, I remember sharing with you my plans of including a regular (weekly) NOTD entry in this blog. It's no secret that my creativity level is close to zero and I've never really been patient with my nails but I was able to convince myself to try it. I thought that, with these nail posts, we can all improve on our skills and share simple tips and tricks we learn along the way. How's that sound to you? 2013 will be totally different; cheers for our willingness to learn more things! :)
I'm slightly shy about my childish work but I would still like to show you the first of many "NOTD Wednesday's" - I just wish I could maintain it. :)
When it comes to accessories, I always prefer silver or white gold over gold. This is because gold usually emphasizes my sickly, yellowish skin undertone and I don't want that. And seeing that our nails are now an extension of our accessories, I decided to go with grey nails with metallic silver tips.
Begin by applying a solid colored polish for your base.
You can also opt to use a different metallic color for base. It's completely up to you! ;)
|Drying nails like a boss with my nail protectors. B-) LOL!|
After applying the base color, wait for it to be 100% dry before moving on to the next steps.
Do NOT proceed to step 2 if your nails have even a teeny tiny wet part because it will stick to the tape and ruin the entire polish. So if you're in a hurry, I suggest just settling with your monotone base color.
Tip: Use an invisible scotch tape instead of the cheap regular scotch tape. This is because the latter tends to leave sticky marks when removed. Also, be super fast in removing the tape in step 2.C. Else, the nail polish will be harder and messier to remove when it becomes tacky.
The result is a clean and crisp line! Just top it off with colorless polish and you're done.
Viola! The final look for my Metallic Tips NOTD.
By the way, for nail art newbies like me, I'm sure you'll find this little nail art book very useful. It's filled with simple step-by-step tutorials that are fairly easy to follow. I actually got this so-called "tape method" here. :) Anyway, I'm trying to recreate some of the nail designs from this booklet as practice before I begin creating my own.
