Last week, I was privileged enough to be invited to the very first bloggers’ event hosted by Burt’s Bees Philippines at Le Jardin. We all know Burt’s Bees for their lip balms (well, who wouldn’t!) but now they’re launching their newest skincare line. Can I just say that  I’m very flattered to be one of the few to witnessed it? Well, I truly am. The event was rather short and intimate with only a handful of bloggers but it was nothing short of fun. They had stations where you could make your own flower crown, hair stylists ready to do your hair and of course, a photo booth with none other than the photographer Shaira Luna. 😀
Burt’s Bees is known for their au naturele concept in making their products. They are strong believers that whatever you put ON our skin goes IN our body and that all we’ll ever need could be found in nature. They respect the natural process of our body and with that said, they do their very best to use only products that are either from nature itself or nature-friendly. No highly complex chemical ingredients.
The event was held at Le Jardin at the penthouse floor of W Building, Bonifacio Global City. I’ve been here before so finding the place was no biggie. Le Jardin is this cute French restaurant set up to look like a garden with lots of plants, white fences and chairs and accent brick walls to bring the look together. The venue goes so well with the brand’s nature-loving theme. Ooh, is it just me or do white wooden furniture looks better?
Just a quick back story: Burt’s Bees started in Maine in the 1980’s. The photo of the man in the classic packaging of Burt’s Bees products is Burt Shavitz. Roxanne Quimby, the co-founder of Burt’s Bees, made candles from Burt’s leftover beeswax which eventually became their best-selling lip balms in 1991.
Given that Le Jardin is a French restaurant, they served nothing but French cuisine, of course. The food was new to me – cool `cause I love trying new food. I’m not very fond of the Orange Segment and Olive Salad but the Blanc de Poullet Farci aux Rillettes de Porc (a.k.a organic chicken breast stuffed with mustard sauce and mashed potato on the side) was delicious! I should ask my dad to make this next time. 🙂
Everyone is born with different skin tone and as we advance
in years, our skin may exhibit different shades and become uneven. There are a
lot of skin brightening products out there but it’s also been well-known to everyone
that synthetic products containing high levels of aggressive chemicals cause
potential skin problems such as loss of elasticity and irritation, leaving the
skin more vulnerable to daily aggressions. Enter Burt’s Bees Daisy White collection.
Here are Liz Lanuzo, PR Consultant, and May Samson, Brand Manager, to talk more about the newest skincare line from Burt’s Bees called Daisy White.
To Burt’s Bees, skin brightening doesn’t mean giving up on
health or even lives. In fact, skin is the body’s largest organ and as delicate
as it is resilient, skin is our first line of defense against the elements. Its
condition is directly tied to overall health. Burt’s Bees believe in making the
most of what nature has already given us and as always, they’re unwilling to
sacrifice quality and safety. Our skin is an amazing machine – and it needs to
be brightened up naturally, too.
Our color of skin, eyes and hair shades is created by an
enzyme called tyrinosinase which triggers a natural process called melanogenesis
in which melanin or skin pigment is produced by cells. Inhibiting tyrosinase
and reducing melanosome transfer to the epidermis would result to brighter skin
tone.
Burt’s Bees formulated the Daisy White Brightening
collection with the white beauty of daisy flower extract which shown influence
all the main pathways involved in melanogenesis by inhibiting tyrosinase
expression and activity and thus reducing melanosome transfer to keratinocytes.
Daisy White Brightening collection, combining Daisy White Extract
and other natural ingredients that help brighten and even skin tone – is the
perfect natural solution for creating the look of translucent skin.
It contains: Summer Snowflake and Multi-Fruit Complex to help smoothen
skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Tonka Bean
Bioferment
that evens out skin tone and masks imperfection. Pearl Powder used
for its anti-inflammatory properties and to improve the overall appearance of
the skin. Indian Gooseberry and Alpine Plant Complex to reduce
hyper-pigmentation for more even skin tone.
Okay, I maybe have enjoyed the daisy flower crown too much. I mean, I know daisies are pretty but I never thought they’d have so much use. Plus, I look like a lovely hippie with this on. HAHA. Thank you for inviting me to such intimate launching. I had fun chatting with the girls at our table and yeah, the loot is probably one of the coolest I’ve received so far. I’ll be using the Burt’s Bees Daisy White range soon and I just can’t wait to make the switch! I’m thinking about getting the serum and eye cream to complete the Daisy White experience. <3
