Like most girls my age, I have my own reservations when it comes to shelling out money on high-end products, let alone non-essentials like makeup. I just started earning my own money recently, and I don’t think I’m in the position to be carelessly throwing money in the wind. But somehow, that doesn’t feel/seem the case when it comes to Shiseido products. Oh, you know how much I adore my Shiseido products.
Did you know that Shiseido recently introduced a new brand under its umbrella of luxury brands? Maquillage is an all-new brand with its own line of blushes, lipsticks, mascaras and whatnot. It maybe new but it has the same luxurious feel as its parent brand. Lucky for me, I was able to test, and eventually bring home, some of the products from their latest release. If you’re a sucker for pretty packaging like me, I’m sure you’ll appreciate this new makeup brand.
The Maquillage Mood Veil (Php 2,200) is housed in a flaunty compact with silver cubes embossed from the cover. The overall packaging is just oozing with gaudy sophistication, and I love it! It’s definitely the kind of compact I’d be more than happy to bring out in the powder room; for sure it’ll bring a few envious stares. Haha! It’s a tad bulky, but not heavy in any case.
Inside the compact is a sizeable mirror and a special, dual-ended brush atop a plastic holder. Before going into details about the blush itself, let me gush about the applicator first. On one end it has a blush brush with bristles that are both firm and soft. It picks up just the right amount of product, and despite its size, it can blend out the blush nicely. To make the blending even more seamless, the brush has a sponge applicator on the other end. This incredibly soft sponge creates even gradation with very little effort. Imagine the soft focus tool on most photo editing apps, but in real life. *wink!
The blush itself has 5 sections: (1) the main color is a rosy pink shade that gives the skin a natural, lustrous blush, (2 & 3) are the blending colors for the cheeks’ outline to create a natural gradation, (4 & 5) works as highlight; they give the skin natural brightness by alleviating the dullness.
But for quick and easy application, I just swirl my blush brush on shades 1-4 and then use the sponge to apply 5 on the cheekbone area. This gives my skin that gorgeous, natural-looking shade. The variety of shades give it a good chance for seamless blending. The shade is very subtle and radiant. I love how it gives my skin a healthy flush of color without looking overly done. I love how it doesn’t accentuate pores even if it is a bit powdery once applied. It doesn’t look patchy at all! It has a lovely silky smooth finish as well. It doesn’t stay on the whole day, not that I’m expecting it to, but it does offer a decent wear time of 5-6 hours.
Maquillage Dramatic Melting Rouge Lipstick (Php 3,900 on Lazada) is encased on the same cube-embossed exterior. It comes in 17 gorgeous shades, 2 of which are limited edition. One of the LE shades is this orangey beige shade, Flower Dew (BE351). With its light color payoff and glossy satin finish, it is somewhere between a lip gloss and a lipstick. It has enough tint to give color to the lips, but not too much to make it look dramatic. Very work-appropriate, if you ask me. 🙂
It glides on the lips like a dream! It is soft and creamy, very hydrating to the lips, too. However, if you have dry chapped lips to begin with, you might want to exfoliate first as this has the tendency to settle on the cracks and crevices of the lips. Tip: don’t forget to exfoliate, prep and blot! This is my no-fail trick for any lip product. 🙂
Given it’s glossy finish, it can only stay on for about 3-4 hours. I don’t mind, though. I would love to have an excuse to take out this beautiful tube of lipstick every chance I get. Even if it means retouching every once in a while. Haha!
Wearing both the Maquillage Dramatic Mood Veil & Dramatic Rouge Lipstick:
If you wcould remember my post on Emozione by Salvatore Ferragamo or the flatlay I posted on Instagram a few weeks back, you’d know that these two Maquillage products have made it to my current go-to favorites for work. Aside from being mesmerizingly beautiful, they’re perfect for the corporate world! I’m actually thinking about getting a few more Dramatic Melting Rouge lipsticks.. just enough to fit my every mood. <3
