I know a lot of girls turn into health buffs during the summer break. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about zumba, yoga, other exercise routines and even boxing over on Instagram. I won’t lie, I’ve been trying to lose a couple of pounds, too, so every other morning I would wake up at dawn, drive to Enchanted Kingdom’s parking lot and jog for a good hour. Nothing extreme, just good ‘ol morning jog. Here’s a better way to put that desire to lose weight into good use…
In celebration of mothers and families in May, Etude House Philippines is holding a fun run dubbed as “Etude Princess Run” It features 3K, 5K and 10K categories that will fire off on May 25, 2014, 5 am at 34th corner 9th Avenue, Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The event was held at Olive Tree Kitchen & Bar in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on April 1. The place was nice and cozy – the lighting combined with the brick accent walls look great. However, too masculine for Etude House, don’t you think? Is it just me or when you say Etude House, a cute pink cafe of some sort almost immediately comes to mind?
I love the idea of the big, sliding chalk board as a door to cover the stairs. It was genius! I kept taking pictures of it so I can show my little sister who is currently taking Architecture classes. I knew she’d appreciate the cool concept. 🙂

The food was great, too! We had veggie salad for starters and then bolognese pasta and pizzas after. I must say, the other pizza tasted weird. I’m not saying it tastes bad but it’s not good either.. and is that chocolate syrup? So weird. Sorry, I’m not one for exotic foods. >.<

To explain the concept and the advocasies supported by the event, we have Andrea Amado of Etude House Philippines, Dingdong Dantes, founder of YesPinoy, and Betty Romero, Lifeline Deputy Director.

Race For a Cause. Proceeds of Etude Princess Run 2014 will support the YesPinoy Foundation, an organization founded that rally all Filipinos, of all ages and from all sectors and background, to support diverse advocacies and programs. The foundation aims to empower Filipinos to help those in need and to contribute effectively and efficiently. The One Chair, One Child Campaign aims to raise funds to buy school chairs for around 3,000 student survivors of Typhoon Yolanda, who go to Estancia Central Elementary School in Northern Iloilo.

I’ve been invited to several events wherein we are encouraged to support a foundation but Ms. Betty’s short but powerful speech really got to me. She said a chair is just a chair for those are fortunate – something we vandalize when we’re bored – but for the students coming from affected areas, a chair means more; it’s their dignity and a chance of a brighter future. Who knows, the owner of that chair can be our next leader or a doctor who can cure cancer or even someone who would end poverty. My heart melted. We must admit the fact that we often take things for granted.. But at least in this way, maybe we can be an instrument to help others. <3

I’m not an outgoing person and also not the athlete-type but I’m definitely joining the Etude Princess Run.. I hope you do, too. <3 See you there princes and princesses! 🙂
