When I was in college, I’ve always wanted to attend PhFW. And my boyfriend, the resourceful man that he is, got us invited for the Luxewear from one of the designers. The year after that, my tito got me a gig as an apprentice for Jim Ryan Ros’, one of Maybelline’s top makeup artists. I didn’t really do much other than stand around, watch how the masters do their magic and help pass around tools every now and then. Well, I did learn how to “make” bangs without cutting the hair so I’d say it was worth it. HAHA. That was 2 years ago. Oh, how time flies. 🙂
And this year, one of the biggest American fashion retailers is now a part of the annual event that celebrates the all-consuming love for fashion, the Philippine Fashion Week. Finally! Forever21 is one of my favorite brands especially when it comes to sweaters and cover-ups. They have this distinct style that I can’t find in any other brands.. if you check my Instagram account, you’ll see me wearing a grey sweater with the huge cross a lot. Yeah, that’s from Forever21. 🙂
Forever 21 announces the launch of their Holiday 2014 campaign featuring recording artist Iggy Azalea and Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young. This year marks several milestones for Iggy Azalea. 2014 saw the Australian artist hold simultaneously the number 1 and 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as become the female rapper with the longest-leading number one single on the chart.
The real life celebrity couple has gained recognition not just for their many talents but also for their distinct and complementary style. “Fashion plays an important part in the lives of Iggy and Nick; they are both at the top of their games and we felt they were the perfect pair to highlight our Men’s and Women’s collection this Holiday,” said Linda Chang, Vice President of Merchandising. “Iggy and Nick are known for their bold style and were chosen as a way for a broader audience to experience the Forever 21 brand and lifestyle.”
Iggy describes her style as “quirky, bold and strong,” while Nick enjoys being “daring and risk-taking” with his choices. Lakers’ shooting guard and Los Angeles native, Nick “Swaggy P” Young had quite the year himself. He recently signed to 4 more years with the Los Angeles Lakers and also made his runway debut walking in New York Fashion Week.
The gates for the Forever21xPhFW show opened at around 6:30pm and the show started a few minutes after 7pm. I was actually involved in a minor car accident on my way to the event and I really thought I wasn’t gonna make it. Good thing I was able to finalize the settlement for the accident immediately and arrived at the event in the nick of time. The show started less than 5 minutes from the time I got to my sit. Perfect timing! I’m so glad I didn’t miss it. The outfits were G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!

Between the entrance and the area for the fashion show proper was a small boutique setup. They had the outfits from the show displayed there so you can just buy them off right after the event. You can even mix and match pieces from their Holiday Collection to come up with your original look. Unfortunately, the place was too crowded with people eager to shop and others who were busy taking pictures so I didn’t have a decent shot of the setup.. not a single one. Don’t be sad, though. I have tons of photos from the show. It’ll be as if you were there with me. 🙂

Warning: This is a photo-heavy post. Prepare your wallet for what’s coming after.. because after seeing the outfits from the Holiday Collection 2014, you’re gonna want to go shopping. Believe me. HAHA.

Here are some of my favorite outfits from the Holiday Collection 2014.
Photos grabbed from Philippine Fashion Week Live.
Modern Monochrome. The marriage between black and white pieces yielded absolutely sophisticated results. The outfit still looked elegant even with the black midriffs on. This collection totally rocked it! The outfits were neat and simple but still had a lot of attitude. And for someone who has tons of black clothing in her wardrobe, I can say I never thought of pulling something like this off.
Kiddies. OMG, I can hear my seatmate “aww”-ing beside me the moment these cutie patooties walked out on stage. They are so adorable and they walked on the stage like they owned it. Cute! The outfits looked very comfy and posh, too. <3
University Chic.  Where was this collection when I was still in college? And why did I insist on wearing only jeans and shirt then when I could’ve worn outfits like this?! I’m a “sweater girl” and I love how they used sweaters differently on every outfit. The outfits look sharp and chic. I’m not very fashion-forward when it comes to these kinds of things but I’m learning.. and by that I’m actually telling you that I’ll be copying these looks soon. HAHA.
Brit Street is a nice play on plaid and leather. You have to admit, these outfits are very Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. The patterns are very trendy but still sophisticated due to the use of other classic pieces like the bow tie and sunnies.
I just love love love these tan-on-print outfits. Dainty and very feminine indeed!
New Bohemian. This is the perfect mix between edgy, breezy and dainty. The lace on the skirt balanced about the edginess of the leather coat. The outfits look very comfortable and easy to carry – something that I’d probably wear when we go out of town this holiday season. 🙂
The fashion show lasted for about 20 minutes, which I think is too short. I want to see more! Haha. I love how they worked basic pieces to turn them into something very trendy. Oh, and just how they accessorized each outfit was awesome! They’re a step outside your usual ensemble but not over the top and still very wearable. Plus, the shoes killed it! I gotta go buy boots now. Bye. *wink!
