I have been to a lot of job interviews lately and I still can’t seem to find one that is truly worth my time and effort. It’s tiring, yes, but one thing I find interesting is how my usual makeup kit has changed to accommodate this new chapter of my life. I can’t believe how fast time flies. I keep on planning things and somehow, they don’t pan out as I wish they would. Oh life, how you surprise me still. HAHA.
Granted that I technically don’t have a job yet, I decided to share with you what’s inside my updated makeup kit that is perfect for the corporate world. Included below are the products I think are essential for this part of my life. I hope that by going through what’s listed below you get to find something that would fit you and your current routine. 🙂
Since I run from one interview to another, I rarely get the change to retouch my makeup so for me, the key is long lasting makeup. The base has to look polished and flawless because with the look we’re going for, less is more. It is important to have the basics before branching out to other things.
I start with a primer, of course. I’m currently using Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser to minimize pore size and blur them for a more even canvas. I then put on a very light layer of foundation – light being the operative word. Remember that we want to look presentable and NOT overly made up here. For this I use my favorite liquid foundation, Revlon Nearly Naked Liquid Foundation in Medium Beige, and then set it by dusting on Revlon Nearly Naked Powder Foundation in Medium Moyen using a fluffy face brush. This is optional but during days that are extremely humid, I use Ben Nye Neutral Set to keep everything in place.
Brows & Lashes.
Here’s a little fact about me: my brows takes just as long to do as my face base routine.. sometimes even longer. My brows have got to be one of my weak points. I think it’s worth it, though. Our browns can change our whole look so when I do mine, I make it less pointed, with softer arch and a little bit thicker than normal to look more approachable.
Anyway, for my brows I use Makeup Academy Pro-Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit and then I secure it in place with Majolica Majorca Brow & Lash Colorist. I rarely use eyeshadows for quick looks so I tend to just rely on eyeliners and mascaras. What I’m currently loving as of the moment are these Heroine Make Liquid Eyeliner and Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara. They’re both easy to use and they have nice staying power as well.
Here’s where it gets interesting. I prefer using peachy nudes and muted red lipstick when I go to an interview but I still want to be as prepared as I can be for any events or spontaneous dates afterwards. That said, I have different shades of lipsticks in my kit. For the interview proper, I personally like using OCC Lip Tars in Melange & Stalker
from my Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set
. I keep my MAC Lipstick in Rebel & Moxie
in my kit as well for personal errands. Just to be sure.. you’ll never know. *wink!
Cheeks & Eyes.
For my all-around cheek product, I have my Look Beauty Cheeky Trio in Peach Melba
. I love how it has all that I need in one travel-efficient packaging. With this, I don’t have to bring individual products for contour, blush and highlight. The shade is perfect for a light makeup look, too! When I have a few more minutes to spare, I try to do a quick earth-toned eye makeup just to make my eyes pop even behind my thick-rimmed glasses. And I have my Glory Of New York Eyeshadow Palette
for that. I forgot the exact shade name but this palette consists of mostly brown shades.
Last but not the least, I always make sure I have another palette within reach for, you know, emergency dates and parties. That’s what this Bobbi Brown Face Palette in Smoke is for. To be honest, I originally didn’t like this particular palette but after several uses, it kinda grew on me. <3 It makes it so much easier to transition from day makeup to a sultry night makeup.
Since the yuletide season is nearing (so is my birthday), my fellow bloggers and I decided that it’s about time to reward you, our loyal readers, for the continuous support. This past few months have been rocky for me personally and I’m just glad that I still have my blog even after everything. Enough “emo” moments and let’s proceed to the prizes, shall we? I know you’ll love these. <3
