I’m not usually a morning person. I am at my most productive a few hours after midnight; that’s when most of the blogging happens. Since I’m currently fielding job offers, I’m technically unemployed and, unfortunately, the only person in the household who’s available during regular business hours. I’ve been running quite a few errands that have strict time, like banks and government offices, which forces me to wake up earlier than usual. But before heading out, I have my own morning routine to make sure I start the day right.
When the weather permits, I like to devote half an hour for my cardio. I run around the subdivision with music blasting on my earphones. After that, I take a quick shower; grab a cup of Twinning’s Honey Lemon tea while reading excerpts from random books. I check updates on my mobile phone only to realize I got about 5-10 minutes left to get ready. This how I came up with my quick and easy makeup routine.
There are essentially 3 basic steps in my everyday makeup routine: powder, lipstick and mascara. I often put emphasis on the mascara, though. As you know, I wear prescription glasses and glasses tend to dull down the eyes which is why I like to pile on my mascara, layers after layers. Mascaras open up the eyes to make them look livelier and more expressive. And admit it, there’s something extremely sexy about long, lavish lashes. 😉
I’m currently loving the Maybelline HyperCurl Mascara because it’s gel-like consistency helps really build up the volume. It dries up fast enough to allow me to layer more without looking clumpy. Also, the slightly arched applicator makes it so much easier to apply the mascara from root to tip. Best of all, it doesn’t smudge or flake throughout the day! If there’s one product from Maybelline that I believe is up there with high-end brands, it’s their mascaras. Check out my review on the Maybelline Extreme Stiletto Mascara and Maybelline The Falsies Mascara as well. 🙂
TIPS: If you apply too much layers before the first layer dries up and it begins to look clumpy, pinch the tip of your lashes to make it look more feathery and natural. If the application gets messy and the mascara transfers on the lid close to the lashes, use a q-tip and smudge it. This will make it look like a subtle eyeliner.
I timed it and this no-fail, 3-step makeup routine took less 3 minutes.. which gives me enough time to get dressed and iron my bangs to submission! Oh, just look at the difference 3 products can make. It’s not much but at least I look presentable. The Maybelline White Super Fresh Powder not only brightened up my face but it also keeps it fresh no matter how long I wait in line at the bank. The Maybelline ColorShow Lipstick in Pink Punch is a no-brainer. It’s a beautiful everyday shade that brings life to the look. It has a nice sheen to it that makes my lips look softer. Now all I need to do is brush my brows to place with a regular spoolie, spritz my favorite Escada Pacific Paradise perfume and off I go.
That’s about it for my quick and easy, 3-step makeup using Maybelline products. Stay tuned for a more glamorous makeup look. *wink! How about you, what are the top 3 products you need for your everyday makeup look? <3
