If you’re someone who takes makeup and skincare seriously, you would know that getting the right makeup remover is almost just as important. Well, even a beginner in makeup should know that failure to remove makeup properly could cause skin a great deal of stress which eventually leads to breakout and tons of other skin problems. So yeah, it’s not something I take lightly.
Just one night of being too lazy to removing my makeup is all it takes to mess up all the effort I put in my skincare regimen. If I don’t remove my makeup, I’ll end up with a new zit the following morning.. and knowing my skin, it will take a days to dry up and months for the mark to fade. All efforts and money that go to my regular facials and laser treatments will go down the drain. No, I’m not exaggerating.. that’s how my skin really is. Troublesome, huh? *le sigh*

With that, I present to you my top picks when it comes to makeup removers. They’re easily accessible, effective, easy to use and best of all, they’re all under Php500! Let’s start. ๐Ÿ˜€
From its name, you’d know it’s an oil-based makeup remover. It’s heavier than anything else on this list, which is often a turn-off for me but with the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, I’ll make an exception. Why, you ask? Because it melts foundation like nothing else can. It stings my eyes a bit so I always use a different remover for eye makeup. But still, this will always be my go-to makeup remover whenever I use full coverage foundations.
Tony Moly Lemon Seed Massage Cream (Php198)
I honestly didn’t like this the first time I tried it because the artificial lemon scent is rather off-putting, but after giving it another try, it kinda grew on me. It is quite affordable and I like how my skin feels clean and fresh afterwards. The lemon scent stays on the skin for a few minutes, too, but not as overwhelming as when first applied. It gives my skin that refreshing citrus tinge after. <3
Another steal! This tub is generously filled and just for Php198! It’s a cold cream-type wherein you massage the cream on your face and watch as it breakdowns the makeup. It doesn’t sting the eyes like the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, but it does cause a slight blur in vision. Don’t worry, nothing water can’t fix. *wink! It comes in different variants and so far, this Aloe Tea is my favorite. Simply because it is more hydrating then the other variants. It leaves my skin soft and supple, too.
No, this is not an advertisement for Etude House. It’s not my fault their products are both effective and affordable. Haha. It’s pretty much the same as the one above except my skin feels cleaner after using this. I know what you’re thinking and no, it’s not a psychological thing because there is literally less makeup residue when I use a toner after washing. I honestly believe this does a “deeper cleansing” which is why I prefer to use this when I have medium-heavy makeup on. It’s basically unscented so this is perfect for those who are a bit sensitive with product smells.
Bifesta Cleansing Lotion (Php419)
I’m saving the best for last here. The Bifesta Cleansing Lotion is the bomb! It’s as light as water, as easy to use as toner and as effective as everything in this list combined! It’s slightly more expensive but its performance makes up for it. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, doesn’t sting the eyes and absolutely no blurry vision even if gets in the eyes. I just love how it effortlessly melts off foundation and even waterproof mascara! I don’t even have to wash my face after because it already feels squeaky clean.
You know you truly love a product when you always have a backup ready. This is prolly my 7th bottle of Bifesta Cleansing Lotion.. been using it since I got a sample from a BDJ Rendezvous Loot Bag a few years back. ๐Ÿ™‚

A little added bonus. I discovered these Nivea Facial Wipes during a recent travel and I instantly fell in love with how portable and convenient they are to use. BF and I traveled North a few months back and this really came in handy because I like removing my makeup during long road trips. The Nivea Exfoliating Wipes have this beaded side that really removes stubborn makeup residue without any fuss. Although it takes quite an effort to remove waterproof mascara with this. But still, not bad for travels. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Nivea Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes are especially useful when I do product shoots and swatches for multiple products. It removes every hint of makeup thus allowing me to move on to my next swatch easily. Good thing I hoarded five of these during the Nivea 50% off sale!
I guess that’s about it for my top makeup removers. It doesn’t really matter what you use as long as it does its job of removing makeup residue without stripping your skin of its natural moisture.
