For all those who love Tokyo makeup and affordable finds, August was indeed a happy month for this is when Pixy Cosmetics made its way into the Philippines! After showering beauty across Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia to bring the best of truly Asian beauty.. it finally reached our shores. With the arrival of Pixy, flawless skin, girlish shades, and beautiful eyes that you see on Japan’s most fashionable streets have never been closer at hand! No need to hit the drugstores of Tokyo to try them.
If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, here’s a quick background of the newest brand to hit the shelves of your favorite mall’s beauty section: “Pixy is a Japanese-formulated and Indonesian-manufactured makeup line which flatters skintones, while infusing the same light-reflecting, skin-perfecting properties, making Japanese cosmetics high in demand.”

Do I still have to tell you how breath-taking the set-up for the event was? When I read that the theme was cherry blossoms, I expected a lot of pink stuff but never did I imagine the venue to look this awesome. It has always been a dream of mine to see real cherry blossoms falling off trees – being carried by the wind. That scenery would be oh-so romantic! <3 For now, I’ll make do with this lovely set-up. Just think about all the effort that went into designing the cherry blossom trees on the sides, the cute pink bucket filled with makeup and the stage, too. This is by far the best set-up I’ve seen in events. And to make the event even better, they had Patty Laurel host it. Kudos to the team behind this!
Actually, I’ve been using Pixy Cosmetics’ Ultimate Makeup Cake and Lasting Matte Lipsticks even before the brand’s launching event was held a couple of weeks back. If you would remember, I posted a BDJ unboxing post last April and it was a Pixy-exclusive box. See it HERE. Also, I already did an in-depth review complete with swatches of the 3 lipsticks that I got from the box. Read more HERE. That reminds me; I have to update that review to include the new ones that I received from the event as a token. 🙂
Beside the stage was this display of Pixy products. Another thing to like about Pixy is that they have all the essentials items that every teen and makeup lovers alike would need for their daily makeup routine. No complex products; it’s like going back to the basics with Pixy Cosmetics. It’s the one brand that I would really recommend to my younger sister since she’s easily confused by majority of my makeup stuff. One time she used primer after foundation because she doesn’t know what primer is. Haha. Now she has a list of steps and products to use for her daily routine neatly placed beside her vanity mirror. 🙂 Check out her Starter Kit HERE.
Every woman should have a beauty philosophy that reflects their own personality and with that in mind, Pixy Cosmetics designed 2 looks inspired by the biggest catwalk in the world: the city if Tokyo. For the launching, they invited Xeng Zulueta, MTV Style Awards’ Makeup Artist of the Year nominee, to demonstrate both looks. I love how she shared her personal tricks in using Pixy products for better makeup application. I still have to master using the powder foundations wet, though. 🙂 And oh, she’s absolutely right, Pixy Lasting Matte Lipstick in Be In Love is gorgeous!
Speaking as someone who is obsessed with anything beauty-related, it thrills me how more and more affordable brands are becoming available in the market. I’m just sooo excited to try them out. On the top of my list, of course, are Pixy Cosmetics and its sister, Heroine Make. Yes, my loves, there’s another brand to watch out for. I’ll tell you more about that on another post. 😉
Tell me, are you Tokyo Kawaii or Tokyo Glam? The best way to find out is to give each look a try. So what are you waiting for? Get PIXYfied! <3
