When I started investing on makeup tools, I always thought that good quality brushes comes with a certain price tag. It’s said that makeup could only do so much when not used with good tools so I try my best to invest on brushes that I know would last for years. But after being able to explore more alternatives, I am convinced that hefty price tags don’t always equate to good quality. Throughout my blogging days, I discovered several brush sets that are of great quality but still affordable.
One example of which is this 22pcs. Pink Professional Brush Set that I got from Tmart.com. I was honestly hesitant of getting it at first because of the price. For something less than a thousand pesos, I honestly didn’t expect it to be at par with some of my highend brushes.
This 22pcs. Professional Brush Set comes in this very bubbly pink roll-up pouch with individual slots for the brushes and a matching pink flap to cover the bristles. It has a cute wrap-around strings, too, to make sure it doesn’t open accidentally. The pouch is made up of a plastic-like material – not very high-end but totally practical since I no longer have to worry about stains. I just have to wipe it off with wet wipes and the makeup residue from dirty brushes disappears without damaging the pouch. It’s very convenient to carry around for gigs too. This set is the epitome of kikay-ness.
As early as now I’ll tell you how impressed I am with majority of the brushes. I’ve tried washing them a couple of times already and I did not experience any kind of bleeding or shedding. Although it’s a bit of a work getting makeup pigments off the white bristles. It takes a lot longer to wash and still a little bit of color remains. After washing, they retained their shapes with very minimal effort. Oh my, don’t get me started on how soft the bristles are. You’d expect them to be dry, coarse and frizzy because of the bleaching and dying to make them look like this but NOOO. They’re super soft! <3
To start, let’s have the face brushes first.
I adore the fluffy fan brush. I don’t use it as often as the powder brush but it’s super soft – probably the softest of them all. I only use it to blend out contour lines, in case you’re wondering. The bell-shaped powder brush and chiseled blush brush are slightly smaller than my average brushes but their density do make up for it. Because of its shape, the blush brush is best used in patting motion. The small stippling brush and foundation brush are nice and dense which makes blending and setting easier. The only thing that could make this any better is if they included a big stippling brush as well. And oh, don’t you just love the metallic pink ferrules? <3
Next we have a total of 8 eyeshadow and concealer brushes.
As you can see, these eyeshadow and concealer brushes come in all sorts of sizes. They all share the same synthetic bristles that are best used with either cream or wet products – they don’t pick up as much loose pigments. They’re great for patting on and building color intensity. The quality of these 8 brushes are much like those that came with the Suesh 18pcs. PRO Brush Set (Read review HERE).
8 brushes, different sizes, 3 different tips. Some came with typical dome-shaped bristles (for concealing and color eyeshadow) while some are angled (for eyeliner, nose line and brow works) and one unique which I prefer to call a “push brush” (for putting black liner on the upper and lower waterline).
Lastly, a couple of detailer and lip brushes. Plus some more grooming tools. πŸ™‚
Basic tools for makeup application that I barely use – except for the spoolie. The bristles are the same as the ones above which make them great as lip brushes. They’re easier to clean this way. The smudger brush is a bit harsh though. But other than that, these are pretty decent.
As much as I want to find a negative thing about them that’s enough to tick me off, I just couldn’t. Given the price, their absolutely incredible. They’re worth every centavo. If you’re thinking about investing on a good brush set, you might be interested in this one. With all honesty, I think this 22pcs. Pink Professional Brush Set is a lot better than the Suesh 18pcs. PRO Brush Set (Read review HERE) that costs almost 5 times the price of this one.
