The hype for 4U2’s LoveLight BB powder in the blogsphere last month was pretty hard to miss. Seriously, BB powder? That’s new to the ears. Who wouldn’t be intrigued by that! Even bloggers like Ms. Donnarence of My Lucid Intervals and Jannah of Life is Beautiful was lured into buying. Even yours truly was not spared!
Every time I pass by a 4U2 counter, it was out of stock. No wonder the demand for it hit the roof! But one opportune day as I shop for my toiletries, I was able to stumble across the last LoveLight BB Powder in stock. Though I was sure that #1 was too light for me, I still bought it. Who knows, I might not be lucky next time. 🙂
Anyway, I’ve been using it for some time now and I’m ready to share my thoughts on the product.
One major factor that contributed to the hype for this product was the packaging. As they put it, it’s very kawaii because of its pink, girly and space-efficient packaging. It can literally fit in your palm! So bringing this little pact wherever you go regardless of the purse you’re carrying will not be a problem. But for me personally, I find the pink plastic too tacky for my taste. Because the easily scratched off markings on the top makes it look cheap. Kudos for the sponge though. It is thin, as expected, but it doesn’t shed bits and pieces of it after weeks of usage.
As for the powder itself, it offers a sheer coverage so the shade didn’t have much bearing at all. This is a good thing, actually because it’s a sign that the powder blends nicely with morena skin tone.Plus, it looks very natural instead of looking like you’re wearing a mask. I just can’t speak for the mestizas since the lightest available shade might be a tad darker for them.
It has a decent staying power which last for about 4-6 hours depending on the temperature. I still need to retouch my powder during the middle of the day. It doesn’t last longer than most of the compact powders I’ve tried nor does it help prevent oiliness. There’s nothing special about it, really.
With all honesty, I’d say that I had very high hopes with this product because of the hype and the fact that it was always out of stock but it failed every standard of my expectation. As much as I want to love the product, I just think the hype isn’t worth it.
But for its cheap price tag, I would say this powder is pretty decent. Just don’t expect too much from it. Learn from my mistake and buy with your own discretion.
Have you tried this product?
I’d love to hear your thoughts about this product.
