They say our skin needs change as we age and I can honestly vouch for that. Now that I am in my mid-20’s, I have noticed my skin type go from severely dry to oily combination skin. And my skin concern now revolves mainly on excessive oiliness on the T-zone as well as enlarged pores. This is exactly why we have to always update our skincare routine. Our HG products and what used to work amazingly for us in our teens would not necessarily be able to cater to our needs now.

Bioderma is a French brand that dates all the way back to 1977. It was warmly welcomed by Filipino consumers when it was made available in our market 2 years ago. I got to try it first from the BDJ Bioderma-exclusive box in June 2015.

Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner comes in a squeeze-tube packaging. I personally like this kind of packaging for my moisturizers so I can easily control the amount of product being dispensed and for hygienic purposes as well.  It is said to contain (1) Fluidactiv to help regulate sebum quality, which keeps pores from becoming clogged and limits the formation of blemishes and (2) Agaric acid, a powerful astringent, that tightens pores and refines the skin texture.

Consistency-wise, Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner is soft and almost gel-like. It is easily absorbed by the skin and it doesn’t leave any trace of oil or shine on the face. I really love how it makes the skin feel silky smooth and at the same time, it offers a soft focus finish which help blur out minor imperfections on the face. This can be worn under makeup.

RESULT: The entire 30mL tube lasted for about 3 months of religious use, morning and evening. I noticed that the pores on the cheek area are tighter and less visible than before. However, I did not notice any improvement in terms of oil control. The oil build up on my T-zone, mainly my forehead, is still the same which requires me to blot 2-3 times a day just to get rid of the shine.

Will I repurchase the Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner? Yes. Although I am a bit disappointed that it was not able to control the oil, the improvement in my pores made up for it. If you wear foundation and it tends to cake and intensify appearance of pores, you will definitely notice and appreciate the difference Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner can make to the skin. <3
