Oh, look here! Benefit Cosmetics has a strong contender in coming up with quirky product names, haha. BLiv is a skincare line under Cellnique, a Malaysian brand. They have a wide range of products for all kinds of skin types that also addresses different skin issues like enlarged pores, oiliness, flaky skin, premature lines and what not. And all of which are humorously named which makes browsing their website a lot more interesting.

Bliv Off With Those Heads. Say goodbye to painful squeezing! This light cooling gel promises to easily remove stubborn blackheads and whiteheads in just 14 days of daily application. It keeps excessive oil secretion under control while preventing future irritation and breakouts.

The brand BLiv is not only a shorten term for the word “believe” but also union of the words “be” and “live” which to them translates to the brand’s driving force in promoting confidence, “live in the moment”. Who would’ve thought a made-up word such as BLiv, could hold so much meaning for the people behind it. <3
Last time I checked, neither Bliv nor Cellnique has announced a Philippine counterpart or distributor. So for the time being, we can only purchase products online thus having to pay the additional international shipping cost. That’s one pitfall for this brand; it’s difficult to get a hold of because it’s not yet available in the local market. That, and the fact that BLiv products are a bit pricey.
Off With Those Heads is basically a sebum gel that minimizes blackheads and whiteheads. It is housed in a tiny plastic pump bottle that stands less than 4 inches tall. It looks a tad bigger in photos than it actually is in person which, to be honest, is a bit disappointing. But because the gel itself is light and runny, 2 full pumps are enough to cover the whole face. So since a little goes a long way with this product, the bottle size is quite justified.
As you can see, the packaging is pretty basic but what I appreciate most about it is that everything (from manufacturing date, expiration date, ingredients, pre-cautions and even possible side effects) are clearly stated in the packaging… and in English, nonetheless. Impressive especially coming from a country that is not English speaking in nature.
Given its gel but still runny consistency, it has the perfect combination for lightweight and fast-absorbing serum. There’s no downtime in between skincare products when I layer them at night since it only takes a few seconds for the skin to absorb. However, other reviews on this product swear that is has this relaxing cooling effect post application but in my case, I can’t say I’ve noticed anything of that kind. No cooling sensation whatsoever. That said, I was expecting a strong minty scent. Thank goodness it didn’t have any pungent smell. 😀
I always see to it that I wouldn’t miss my monthly facials because if I do, even for just 2 weeks, my boyfriend would start teasing me. He likes calling me “strawberry nose”.. you figure out why. T.T That’s how severe my blackheads could get if not extracted regularly. I believe it runs in the family because my mom said my father had the same issue when they were teens. Admit it, blackheads and whiteheads are annoying and painful to remove. Worst, even makeup can’t completely cover it so you really have no choice but to prick them. Oh, believe me, it’s not something I enjoy. It freakin’ hurts!!
Nose strips are great temporary solution; emphasis on “temporary”. No matter how good, strips can NOT guarantee to remove 100% and it also can’t prevent, or even lessen, them from coming back. Plus, they tend to leave your pores wide open – ready to welcome dirt into your pores. Facials are, in a way, a temporary remedy as well but at least they are able to get majority of the gunk out.
I have been using this for months now; it is as if the sebum gel gradually melts the deep seated dirt and eventually pushes out the pores – which is probably why the skin tends to be oilier than usual during the first few days. Although Off With Those Heads doesn’t completely prevent and remove existing blackheads and whiteheads, it still does a great job in significantly lessening them. Like the prior remedies, it can’t remove everything nor is it a permanent solution.. but I like it simply because it is hassle-free to use and by far the most effective I’ve tried.

It has been 7 weeks since my last facial treatment and this is probably the longest I’ve lasted without wanting to pull my entire nose out. There are still a few blackheads that irritate me but at least there are no more whiteheads sticking out on the corners of my nose. I just hate those! So disgusting. 🙁 With that I can say that this Bliv Off With Those Heads sebum gel really is effective. No wonder Youtube guru, Bubz Beauty, was raving about it on one of her monthly faves video. Like I said, it’s a bit pricey but definitely worth trying.. well, for me at least.
