Toners are essentially a staple product in my skincare routine. I can jump from one regimen to another every few months as long as I include a toner in my nightly routine. My skin isn’t really picky when it comes to toners. I could use Eskinol for all I care. Come to think of it, I rarely encounter toners that cause my skin to breakout. I am pickier when it comes to moisturizers and serums.. for toners, as long as it removes dirt and makeup residue, I’m fine with whatever.

“Infused with a blend of Tomato, Cucumber and Parsley Extracts, this natural facial toner removes lingering traces of cleanser and any trapped dirt, oil and make-up and helps to tighten pores. Formulated with a Fruit Acid Complex featuring Sugar Cane, Sugar Maple, and Bilberry Extracts rich in Alpha Hydroxy Acids, it also supports the natural exfoliation of dead skin cells. The result is fresh, beautiful skin. Naturally. Also use our Garden Tomato Toner prior to applying your favorite Burt’s Bees face lotion, as it helps to prepare your skin to maximize the benefits of your moisturizer.”
A friend of mine asked me before if she needed to start using toner even if she has dry skin. I’ll tell you what I told her; toners aren’t just for removing excess oil so the use of such is not limited to those with oily skin. Even those with dry skin are just as prone to dirt build up especially when you take public transportation, and more often than not, our facial washes aren’t enough. So in her case, she just needed to find a toner that is just as effective in removing dirt, but is still mild and non-drying so as to not further aggravate her skin’s dry patches.
Well, of course I recommended the Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner to her. I have combination skin, and I’ve been using this for months on end! I’ve already switched up my skincare regimen twice the past few months but this toner has remained unmoved.. and it shall stay that way until I finish the bottle completely. Until the very last drop!! I rarely rave about toners but believe me, this Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner is truly praise-worthy!
Much like everything else from the brand Burt’s Bees, this Garden Tomato Toner is very light and subtle. It has a faint tomato scent to it that is incredibly refreshing to the senses. It is mild on the skin and it doesn’t sting the eyes – this is of utmost importance to me! It almost feels like water on the skin except for the slight tingling sensation it sometimes leaves on the skin. It really doesn’t bother me; but then again, I don’t have sensitive skin. 🙂
The only thing I don’t like about it is the gaping hole from the screw top. Don’t get me wrong, I like the simple glass bottle packaging. It gives it a very organic feel to it although it is rather too heavy and too fragile for my preference. But the huge hole makes it tricky to dispense just the right amount of product. Accidentally titling it too much or in a wrong angle could mean losing a few precious drops toner.
Now, what I like most about the Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner is that it is able to effectively remove makeup residue without feeling harsh on the skin. It thoroughly cleans the face whilst maintaining the skin’s natural moisture. It feels so light on the skin as well. No dryness, no breakouts. With continued use, I was able to see some improvements on my pores as well. The pores on my cheek area aren’t as prominent now. <3
