Now that the weather is a lot cooler, I don’t have to worry about my foundation sliding off because of extensive sweating. I had to stay on the light coverage side during the summer because of the heat but now that it’s raining and it’s cold, I can wear face products with better coverage. Hoorah! And here’s something new in my makeup kit to welcome the pleasant change in weather this month.. Collection Cover & Go Foundation and Concealer Duo! 🙂
This duo combines a liquid foundation to give you a flawless glow with a cream concealer in the lid to cover dark circles and imperfections. With a screw-top foundation and concealer cleverly contained within the cap, plus mirror for handy touch ups on the go. 6 shades: Ivory, Light, Fair, Natural, Medium, Dark.
I have to admit, what attracted me to buying this is its packaging. You see, Cover & Go Duo combines both foundation and concealer in one very classy black and gold tube packaging. The foundation goes inside the easy-squeeze tube while the concealer is on the screw cap. This goes without saying but this really is very convenient and easy to tote around especially during travels. Also, it makes shopping for the same colored foundation and concealer effortless. And did I mention it has a tiny mirror too inside the cap? Talk about functionality!
I like both the foundation and the concealer but in varying degrees so allow me to evaluate the foundation and then the concealer separately before assessing them as a duo. And please do bear in mind that I have combination skin type with my eye area being extremely dry.
First, the foundation. Consistency-wise, I’d say the foundation is more on the gel-ish side rather than liquid. It is quite thick and it comes out of the tube like a blob so definitely gel-type in consistency. This makes it easy to apply although tricky to even out. It has a faint “foundation” smell too, if you know what I mean. It offers medium and buildable to a heavy coverage without caking. Though it’s tolerable, this does feel teeny bit heavy on the skin at first. Also, it has a tendency to slide right off when not set with powder properly as it is greasy and takes a while to settle on the skin. The shade Natural matches my skin tone really well – at first, at least.
I strongly feel that this foundation would work well for those with normal and dry skin type. Maybe with the right setting powder, those with combination skin type – myself included – could work with this too. But definitely not for those with oily skin. This would just slide right off.
As for the concealer, it has a not-so-creamy consistency that makes it extra difficult to spread and even out on dry skin. Priming your under eye area with a lightweight eye cream would do the trick so I don’t have to worry about that too much. Anyway, the concealer offers a very decent coverage – amazing on pimple scars and marks but tends to settle on lines so it’s a definite no-no for my under eye.
The foundation has more of a pink base while the concealer apparently has a strong yellow undertone. Nonetheless, they still look good together. They complement each other despite the difference in base colors. 🙂
To tell you that the foundation impressed me is undermining its coverage. I’m really amazed on how easily it covers my major blemishes and instantly evens out my skin color with one thin layer. The foundation’s coverage is incredible! The concealer has commendable coverage as well but since it doesn’t really match my skin type, I just double up the foundation layer to cover my hideous under eye circles. I really really love the foundation. Just look at how it completely masked my dark circles.. you can barely see it! Heck, I would buy this again in a heartbeat even just for the foundation alone – yep, it’s THAT good! 😀
What Collection Cover & Go Foundation and Concealer Duo looks like when freshly applied and under complete makeup… NO EDIT.
The staying power is outstanding as well!
It lasts the entire day and I don’t have to worry about retouching which makes it an even better buy. However, I noticed that after about an hour or two, the foundation starts to oxidize like crazy. Even my boyfriend noticed my makeup go 2 shades darker than my skin tone making me look from morena to just ol’ negra. Not good! This was personally the biggest disappointment I had with this particular product.
After taking everything into consideration, I’d say I just love the coverage too much that I would be willing to repurchase it despite the oxidizing part. So the next time I buy this, I’ll probably get one or two shades lighter as if I’m acidic. I hope it works because I just totally love this Collection Cover & Go Foundation and Concealer Duo to bits!
