Water-based makeup removers have always been my choice when it comes to this stuff but when I ran out of my trusted Bifesta Cleansing Lotion, I thought of giving other products a shot before deciding whether or not to repurchase my fave. One particular product I decided to try just recently was this DHC Deep Cleansing Oil primarily because it seems to be huge thing in Hong Kong. I haven’t really heard about this brand prior our HK trip but apparently, it’s a good brand – every Watsons and Mannings in HK International Airport has this! I’m hoping it’s somewhat like the much-coveted Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil since I still can’t afford Shu. HAHA.
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil makeup remover completely dissolves all traces of dirt and cosmetics—even waterproof mascara and eyeliner—while nourishing your complexion with antioxidant-rich olive oil. Using dry hands, massage it onto your dry face, and it immediately goes to work. Add water and it transforms to a milky, vitamin-rich emulsion that rinses clean, leaving your skin feeling soft and nurtured; never dry or greasy. One try and you’ll understand why it’s the ultimate cleanser.
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil basically is rich oil-based makeup remover. If you’ve tried homemade olive oil masks before, this feels a lot like that. It feels oily and heavy on the skin so unlike with water-based removers, you ABSOLUTELY have to rinse this one off before proceeding to your normal skincare routine. It takes a while to rinse off, too, since water doesn’t really mix well with oil. Those are the only down side to this product because besides those, DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is awesome!
It removes makeup faster and with very minimal effort. It just melts everything off in one go! What really impressed me was how neatly it can remove waterproof mascaras. With water-based removers, I have to let the cotton – with a few pumps of product – sit on my lid and lashes to “soften” the mascara before slowly wiping it off. Sometimes I even have to pinch sections of the lashes to really get the mascara off. But with DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, I let it sit for like 15 seconds, a couple wipes and then *poof!*
no more mascara! But because of how quickly the cleansing oil breaks down the mascara, I still have to run the cotton on the area below the eyes a bit to remove whatever is transferred underneath. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is simply more effective for waterproof products. Plus, it’s easier to use.
Another thing about this DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is that even if it gets into the eyes, it doesn’t irritates it. It stings a bit and causes my vision to blur a little but it goes away after washing with clean water. No redness whatsoever. 🙂 I still love my ever-favorite Bifesta Cleansing Lotion but I have to admit, both products have strong points BUT when it comes to stubborn, waterproof makeup, DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is the king. 😀
