Hey there! I finally had our internet connection transferred to our new place. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll probably know that our house is currently being renovated so we had to move out for the meantime. Everything was a huge mess the past couple of days as we tried to settle down. Can you imagine staying up for a whole 25 hours to organize, pack and move all my things? Phew! I’m glad the cleaning and the unpacking are finally over.. I can go back to my regular blogging routine. Yey!
My past week had been nothing but exhausting. Although it’s also nice to have the time to really organize all my makeup stashes and not just stack them in random drawers. LOL! I was thrilled to discover a lot of unused products that are yet to be reviewed as I rummaged my stash. Yeah, one of them is this Estee Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow Quad I received months ago. I can’t believe I’ve been neglecting this awesome quad all this time! :3
I really love the packaging. Estee Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow comes in box type packaging no bigger than 2 ordinary match boxes placed side by side. It’s opened by pulling one side and then flipping it out. This way, I won’t worry about it accidentally opening inside my bag. Hooray for no more messy makeup kit!
Its size is relatively small compared to other quad palettes and it’s rather light too. This makes it so much easier to squeeze in any purse and tote around. The dark blue case combined with the gold logo makes it look really classy. Inside the spanking packaging are four small pans of eyeshadows, a sponge tip applicator and a small mirror. The applicator is, in my opinion, useless but at least the sponge doesn’t crumble up and fall apart during use. And the mirror is too small to be used for anything other than checking if I have something in my teeth. LOL!
By the way, this Estee Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow Quad is a part of the brand’s Gift with Purchase promotion. To get updates about Estee Lauder, Clinique and Lancome’s latest GWP offerings, check out the blog Clinique Bonus Time. 🙂
I’m not trying to oversell this Estee Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow Quad but honestly, I’ve never felt any eyeshadow as silky as this. It such a joy to apply as it glides on incredibly smoothly. The colors are very easy to blend too. The pans are small but I think it would take me a while to finish because they’re highly pigmented – small amount really goes a long way.
And even when blended out, the shades still look bold and very distinct. It can create a decent gradient effect (not just a muddy brown mess) and almost impossible to over-blend. I really like the combination of colors in this quad palette. It’s appropriate for wok and other daytime events but isn’t too boring because of the light purple shade. Plus the combination of matte, shimmer and satin finishes made it even more interesting. Actually, I also have the other quad too – the one with the shades “sage light & dark” – but I think that one’s too plain for my taste.
I’m totally crushing on this quad palette. The only flaw I could possibly point out for this particular kit is that it has a bit of fallout. It’s nothing major since it doesn’t really create a mess on my face when applied but it does make my vanity area a bit chaotic as it feathers out dusts and eyeshadow particles. 🙁
I’ve been using this for days and I’m really impressed with its staying power. I first used it with my forever favorite primer, Urban Decay Primer Potion, and it lasted for almost 12 hours despite constant sweating! I then tried it without primer. I was pleasantly surprised to see my eye makeup completely intact after about 8-9 hours.
From the entire loot of Estee Lauder products I got from my tita, this has got to be my favorite. It’s the best so far – even beat my all-time favorite mascara, Estee Lauder Projectionist. Yup, it’s really that good! I highly recommend it. 😀
