I’ve read a lot of raves about Fanny Serrano’s Two Way Cake. Some even claimed that this is the perfect dupe for MAC’s Studio Fix Powder Foundation. So I decided to give it a try even though it’s is slightly more expensive than my normal everyday powder which was Maybelline Pressed Powder in Sand Beige.
A lot of you are probably aware that I recently experienced my worst breakout ever so I’ve been constantly changing my skincare routine and have been eliminating skincare products that I was using to know which one was causing my breakout.
I honestly want to love this product but… let’s just say, I’ve been eliminating the wrong products from my skincare and makeup routine.
Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake in Orleans
Orleans was, by far, the closest to my morena skintone. I’m NC35/40, by the way. πŸ™‚
Ingredients are on the back.

It has a mirror and a sponge puff on the lower compartment. I’m not really fond of the placement of mirror. I have to switch the divider back and forth as I apply powder. What I do like is that the sponge is separated from the powder. Which means not too much of the powder will be left on the sponge. Plus, the bottom part has holes on it. I’d like to think it’s to let the sponge dry/breathe.

Even without concealer and foundation, you can see how heavy the coverage is.
Almost 3 weeks ago, when my breakout peaked, I decided to let my skin breathe for a while. As much as possible, I didn’t apply any makeup on. No concealers, blushers and bronzers. I only used my Maybelline powder (because its lighter on the face), did my brows, put on my fave lip balm and I was good to go.
After 2 weeks of skin rest, less pimples were forming on my cheeks so I was able to use blushers again. I was slowly going back to my usual face routine. But two days ago, just when I started using Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake again, I noticed huge pimple bumps are again forming.
So yeah, I found the culprit.
This costs Php 399 and it’s available in SM Dept. stores and Watson’s.
PRO’s
– It offers medium-heavy coverage.
-They have a wide variety of shades that would fit different skintones.
– It has a great staying power. No need to retouch every other hour.
It helps control oiliness.
– It has vitamin E and UV-protection for the skin.
– Lastly, it doesn’t have any funky/irritating smell.
CON’s
– It’s a little bit pricey for everyday use.
– It’s somewhat chalky but only when you use it with a brush.
– Sadly, my skin didn’t approve of it. *sob
