A good balm is honestly one of the essential products I use to prime my face prior makeup application – along with a light moisturizer. But that job is already taken by my heavyduty lip balm, Carmex. So why do I even need this? Well it’s easy, this one is tinted, baby! And just by seeing how decently pigmented this is, you’ll immediately know that it can be used as a substitute for lipsticks especially during lazy days. 🙂
I know what you’re thinking, “another Human Heart Nature?”, well yes. Didn’t I warn you about the series of reviews I’ll be posting on organic makeup? 🙂 Brace yourselves because after this I’ll review products from the new Krave Minerale line — you’ve probably already seen ’em if you paid my page a visit the past couple of days. But before that, let’s focus on this one first.
Human Nature Tinted Lip Balms
Get a hint of color and nourishment in one soothing lip balm! A feel-good blend of cocoa butter, beeswax and all-natural plant oils keeps your lips soft and moisturized all day! Available in 4g packs and 100% Natural!
Human Heart Nature Tinted Lip Balm comes in a maroon tube the size of a typical lip balm with smooth plastic-like font-filled cover. It has this click-thingy that you twist to dispense the product. Unlike most lip balms that come with the same click-thingy packaging, Human Heart Nature Tinted Lip Balm is retractable. So no worries if you dispense too much. If I’m not mistaken, this 4g tube costs less than Php 70. That’s actually really affordable considering that it’s organic – organic products usually cost more – and you get both the moisturizing effect of a lip balm plus a decent color pay off.
Available at Purple Cow’s Attic.
HHN Tinted Lip Balm is available in 3 shades: Pink Orchid (subtle pink shade), Flame Tree (dark red shade) and this one, Island Kiss which is a deep, almost reddish brown, coral shade. Based solely from the one shade that I got, I’d say that the balm itself is rather soft and easily chipped but at the same time, doesn’t melt as easily under extreme heat. And because of its soft texture, it allows the product to glide on smoothly on the lips without accentuating cracks and lines on the lips. It has a bit of a minty smell to it like the organic lip balms sold in Healthy Options, same cooling sensation as Carmex too but minus the overwhelming smell.
Given that this is only a tinted lip balm and not a lipstick, the color pay off is amazing. It really does give the lips the needed tint to avoid looking sickly. It stays on for a decent hour or two too! Not only that but it also gives the moisturizing effect of a normal lip balm — not as moisturizing as Carmex but still as good as Maybelline Baby Lips. The shade, Island Kiss, is just perfect for my dark lips. It’s exactly what I need to even out the color of my lips. 🙂
