I once read somewhere that the key to a good mascara is the wand. I never really agreed with it a 100%, but now I’m starting to give it a second thought. The L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara has one of the most peculiar wands I’ve tried so far. Instead of the typical wands with 360 degrees brush-head with rows of flexible bristles, this resembles more of a double-end comb. The top part has wider gaps in-between the stiff plastic bristles, and has a concave curve to effectively “catch” the top lashes. The shape of the wand itself helps apply the mascara evenly while holding the curl in place. Meanwhile, the bottom part has shorter, narrower bristles which make it easier to apply mascara on the bottom lashes.
The formulation of the L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara is a bit on the watery side so it’s not as prone to clumping as it is to transferring after application. If I were to choose between wet and dry formulation when it comes to mascara, I always pick the former since it gives me more time to layer on the product. Come to think of it, wetter formula gives me a good minute or two to distribute the product when too much is accidentally applied. No web-like lashes for me, thank you!
Beauty Tip: Remember to carefully wiggle the wand while applying layers of mascara to prevent it from clumping. This helps distribute the product evenly. Also, pinch the tip of your lashes before the mascara dries to create more natural, wispy tips.
The result: longer, thicker lashes that doesn’t smudge even when I wear it to the gym. It looks natural, too! It really does lengthen my lashes which is immensely important for someone with nonexistent lashes like myself. Plus, it makes my lashes visible even behind my geeky eyeglasses. I highly recommend this especially with this summer heat. You won’t have to worry about looking like a raccoon mid-day; L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara is water- and smudge-proof, and it is able to hold my curled lashes for hours! Totally loving this to bits! <3
