We try to emphasize time and again for important brows are in completing a look and how they should complement the shape of our face to properly frame it. I’m taking a different, more persuasive approach. It’s as simple as this: imagine your face without your eyebrows – completely gone and bold. How do you like it? Not diggin’ it? Then for the love of bacon, fix your brows! >.<  P.S Yeah, I love bacon. HAHA!

The ultimate brow kit, this kit contains the tools to shape, shade and highlight. The kit includes eyebrow and highlight shades, fixing gel, a handy brow brush and mini tweezers!
For my age, I think I’ve had more than enough of my fair share of brow products but that comes with the territory, I guess. However, I recently came across a cool new eyebrow kit that has almost everything I need to groom and do my brows. Introducing MakeUp Academy Pro-Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit, MUA Luxe Power Brow‘s big sister. ๐Ÿ™‚
MUA Pro-Brow comes in a sleek black plastic compact with a huge mirror in the inner lid portion. Inside, it houses a transparent wax, 2 shades for filling in the brows, a natural-colored highlighter, a dual-ended brush and a small slanted tweezers. Talk about a complete package! I love the selection and how it gives you 2 shades just for filling the brows. Unlike MUA Luxe Power Brow, there are more options with this one.. although the other one is undoubtedly easier to use and more appropriate for teens and beginners alike. This one is for the big girls. *wink!
The wax is thin and light. It doesn’t feel greasy but just to make sure, I only apply a small amount to prevent it from balling up and clumping the powder afterwards. The wax basically gives the powder something to latch on to. So naturally, when I tried using this brow powders without the wax, the powder doesn’t stay on as long. The brow powders aren’t too powdery, they’re nicely pigmented and they have decent staying power as well – they can still be blended and combed off using a spoolie when too much is applied. But without the wax, they can just as easily be wiped off when you sweat. The wax makes a huge difference and it’s actually my favorite addition in this all-in-one kit. I just hope MUA came up with a better brush and not this flimsy little thing. Plus a spoolie would be rather helpful, too.

Needless to say, with the wax, this can stay on for an entire day and withstand sweating. I’ve worn this for 8-10 hours straight when I went shopping and I was pleased to see that it stayed on even when the rest of my makeup was starting to fade. I had to retouch my face makeup but not my brows. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t always have the time to do my brows but when I do, this is how I basically do it: I apply just the right amount of wax (lower right) following the direction of my brow hair; be careful not to put on too much or it could be a bit clumpy. Then I outline my brows starting from the lower part out going towards the tail part using the darkest brown shade (upper left). I add a little more to fill in 3/4’s of my brows with the same shade. Using the Taupe shade (upper right) and whatever is left on the brush, I apply it on the start of my brows. This is to give my brows more depth. Our face is 3 dimensional and so our brows must look 3 dimensional as well. We won’t want a caterpillar-looking solid brown line as our brows, right? ๐Ÿ™‚
For the final touches, comb off any excess with a spoolie and highlight the brows by dabbing a bit of the light beige shade (lower left) on the brow bone just below the arch to give it more definition. I still haven’t perfected my brow routine but I’d like to think I’m getting there.
More often than not, I only have about 5-10 minutes to do my entire makeup for my 8am classes and I obviously don’t have the time to follow the steps above. So what I do is just apply the wax and the darkest brown shade like I usually do and then instead of switching shades, I just use whatever is left on the brush for the start of my brows to get the same 3 dimensional effect. Then I just skip the highlighting all together. ๐Ÿ™‚
