I wouldn’t really count a lip balm as makeup. For me, it’s more of a skincare thing ‘coz I think of it as taking care of my lips after a long day of wearing lipstick – like serums or moisturizer for my face at night. And that’s what Maybelline Baby Lips Color is for me.. but with a little sass, of course. 🙂
“Introducing Maybelline Baby Lips New Bright Collection. Pamper your lips with bright colors and continuous moisture. No more basic lip balms. Visibly renewed lips and 8-hr hydration. The secret: Exclusive lip renew formula with SPF 16. Protects and moisturizes lips for a full 8 hours. After 4 weeks, lips are visibly renewed and reborn.”
The new Maybelline Baby Lips Color Runway Bright Collection is available in 3 shades: Pink Peony, Neon Rose and this one right here, Tangerine Pop. Packaging-wise, this new collection is exactly like its older sister, the original Maybelline Baby Lips (Read review HERE) that came in very cute little tube with a click/twist base at the bottom but with bolder color that would surely get your attention.
Tangerine Pop is a very light coral shade with just the right amount of sheen. The color isn’t as bold when worn as it is on the bullet but that is to be expected from a tinted lip balm. It gives the lips a lovely color to bring it life and in my case, it alleviates the unevenness of my lips – the outer part of my upper lip tends to be darker than the rest of my lips – but not in an obvious manner. This is probably an age thing but I personally prefer something that has more color to it like real lip tint or even a lipstick for everyday but for my little sister, this is just perfect. She absolutely loves this and keeps this in her bag wherever she goes. Therefore, I shall conclude that this Maybelline Baby Lips Color best fits teens – it has just the right amount of color and sheen to it. 🙂 Check out my lil sister’s Starter Makeup Kit HERE.
In terms of consistency and texture, I’m very pleased that they maintained the non-greasy, lightweight formulation of the original version. It still glides on effortlessly on the lips as well. The addition of color in no way affected its moisturizing effect. Phew! However, like its predecessor, it can maintain the current state of your lips but cannot completely reverse already-dry lips. So for extreme weather condition like summer, I still opt to use heavy duty lip balms like the Colour Collection Lip Therapy with Argan Oil (Read review HERE). But when my lips are all fine and well, I go for this Maybelline Baby Lips Color for an instant boost of moisture coupled with a nice healthy tint. Oh, the SPF is a nice tough too! 😀
