Another friend to those with barely-there lashes: a good ‘ol eyeliner. Aside from defining the eyes, eyeliners, when applied properly, can actually fake the appearance of fuller lashes. Now, eyeliners come in different form and a variety of colors, but my personal favorite is still the black, pen-type liners. A classic! I find black, not brown, to be the most flexible; it can go a million ways based on the thickness and stroke of the line.
My current favorite would have to be the Maybelline HyperSharp Power Black Liner simply because it’s black and it comes in a sleek pen-type packaging, haha. Kidding aside, I’ve actually liked all the previous HyperSharp Liners. But what makes Power Black a notch above its precedents is its intense pigmentation. It’s impressive how a single swipe can create a deep, black line. Just when I though the previous Maybelline HyperSharp was great; they came up with something better!!
The staying power is essentially the same; still water-proof and long lasting. It claims to be smudge-proof as well but I noticed that it tends to smudge ever so slightly when I “wing” it out a bit. It probably has something to do with how oily my face becomes under the summer heat.
Beauty Tip: For the winged eyeliner look, as always, I recommend using a small amount of eyeshadow primer on your eyelids up to the outer corner of the eyes before applying the eyeliner. This will improve the longevity of the eyeliner especially when you tend to oil up a bit.
Although the Maybelline HyperSharp Power Black does smudge [a bit], it still holds up better under sweat and oil than other drugstore brands. It’s easy to use, too – imagine you’re just using an ordinary pen. For a product as pigmented as this, it’s actually a steal at P299. I recommend it to beginners and PROs alike.
