This is one of the very few products that captured me from
the very first swatch. Let me take you back when the two of us first met. I was
casually walking around SM department store with my boyfriend when I decided to
try out things from different counters just to kill time. And like fate had it,
I passed by Neutrogena’s counter and tried their Hydro Boost Water Gel on the
back of my hand. And that was it! Since then, I’m head over heels for
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. LOL!
I sound like a hopeless romantic from a
cheesy 90’s movie.

This 50g tub cost me Php 830 which is pretty steep for a drug store brand actually… it’s worth it though. Available at Watsons and SM Department store.

Anyway, I’ve been using this for months now and I’m ready to
give my two cents on the product.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel comes in a blue glass-like
jar which makes it look really expensive and at par with other high end
products like Patricia Wexler. After opening the screw lid top, it also has a
second lid to prevent dust and dirt from getting in the jar. Though I would like it even better if it came with a pump of some sort.
The moisturizer is nearly transparent but with a little hint
of sky blue color. I think its consistency is a bit watery or running for a
gel. But personally, I like it better that way because its consistency makes it
easier to spread and lessening the need to tug the skin. I like massaging it on
my face for a few seconds then I pat it on lightly to aid blood circulation and
better absorption.
I use this twice a day. In the morning, I use this to prime my
face before makeup application as it creates a smoother, suppler canvas allowing
bb creams and foundations to glide on the face effortlessly. It is easily
absorbed by the skin and it doesn’t feel heavy (almost like I didn’t put anything on) so it doesn’t contribute to
caking. Of course I apply this at night too. It makes me look blooming and
fresh every morning the following day! Hands down, it does a great job keeping
my face moisturized.
Just look at how quickly it is absorbed by the skin! It feels oh so soft too!
I used to have dry skin so flaking on the cheek area
normally occurs during cold and rainy season but since last summer, I traded my dry skin to combination oily-dry skin. Thus, making skincare more complicated. Now I have to apply different
products depending on the condition of each area. Good thing this product is
water-based. Meaning, it is good for both dry and oily skin as it will not
contribute to more oiliness compared to silicone-based products. Like I said,
I’ve been using this religiously for months now and as I’m nearing the bottom
of the tub, I noticed that the flaking on my right cheek is almost gone!
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel really didn’t disappoint me.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is now one of my staple
skincare products. I just love it to bits!
Have you tried this one yet? I love to hear your thought about it.
