I’m a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to lip creams.
Call me old fashioned but I only use the typical lipsticks with bullet until I
was recently offered to try out NYX lip creams. Of course I was more than glad
to accept products to try out. Now I am back to review yet another  lip cream. But this time, it’s from NYX’s
Soft Matte Lip Cream line.
Rej of Chic Cosmetics sent me 2 lovely shades to try out;
Stockholm and Monte Carlo. These two shades couldn’t be more oppsosite from
each other than they already are. But I seriously love them both! The 2 colors
showcase 2 very different side of me perfectly; simple for everyday use & sizzling
hot for night outs. LOL!
Available at Chic Cosmetics for Php 250 per tube.
Like the usual packaging of NYX Lip Creams, Soft Matte Lip Creams are also housed in a transparent plastic tube where you can easily see the color. It has the same doe foot applicator like that of a lip gloss which makes lining the lips more precise compared when you’re using the typical lipstick (unless you’re using a lip brush).

Basing from the name of the product, I was expecting it to have a thick creamy texture. Well, it’s true for Monte Carlo but as for Stockholm, it has more of a mousse texture rather than cream. Though both glides on the lips smoothly and effortlessly. As for the smell, I’m pleased to report that unlike cheap lip glosses, this one doesn’t have any pungent smell to it.

Look at how gorgeous that deep red shade is! It looks almost like I cut my wrist. LOL!
Stockholm is a beautiful pinkish beige color. It has just the
right amount of pink in it to prevent the skintone shade from making me look
sickly. I usually reach out for this shade when I want the “my lips only better” look for natural more subtle look as it only
evens out the color of my lips and add just a tiny bit of color; or when I have
too much going on my eyes and I need to tone it down when it comes to the lips.

Monte Carlo, on the other hand, is a rich deep red, almost
vampire-ish but totally gorgeous. It’s what a vampire and a social climbing
bitch from teleseryes would surely
wear. LOL! Kidding aside, it’s the
perfect shade of red for formal events. Very sensual and provocative yet very
elegant at the same time.
Monte Carlo.
What I really love about SMLC is that the cream itself
adheres to the lips. Thus, making the color last longer than normal creamy lipsticks
and lip creams that just tends to sit on top of the lips. Same reason why  this one is less prone to staining the teeth
with the lipstick. So kudos for the amazing staying power and great color pay-off.
The only CON’s for this lip cream line are: it accentuates the the lines on the lips as it tends to seeps in them so I wouldn’t really recommend this to those with chapped lips. Also, being matte, you can expect it to be slightly drying. Though it’s not a major issue for me since I can always reach out for my very trusted Carmex lip balms to recondition my lips. 😀
Seriously loving this shade! I kept taking pictures of myself wearing it. It looks super sexy!

Have you tried NYX Lip Creams before?
I like this line better than their Xtreme Lip Creams. I’ll tell you why.. soon. *wink
