When we complain about lack of sleep in preparation for the coming exams or the calories we gain from unhealthy eating, our skin experiences twice as much stress as we do. Just think about the layer after layer of makeup and other products we slather on our faces which clog our pores and prevents our skin from breathing.
So I dedicated my Saturday’s to rejuvinating my hard-working skin for keeping up with me. That’s why most of my DIY posts are done during Saturdays. πŸ™‚ But this time, I’ll be sharing a commercially available facial mask which I’ve been loving for the past weeks.
Girls, I’d like you to meet Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. πŸ™‚

Homemade masks are great! They’re effective and inexpensive. Perfect for girls with tight budget constraint. But I must admit, I’m a bit lazy sometimes and with my Saturday class schedule, I really can’t find the time. So I just opt to use ready-made masks whenever I have few minutes to spare.  Good thing I came across Ina‘s Monthly Otakus post where she expressed how much she loved this mask. Like most of the products she features, I was really intrigued so I decided to try it.
Product Info
Mint Julep Masque is the original natural home treatment to help dry up pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarged pores. Simply apply Mint Julep Masque to your clean face and neck. As it firms and hardens within minutes, it draws out impurities from your pores. After the masque is removed, your skin will feel clean, refreshed and smooth. Even for individuals who are fortunate to be free of skin problems, Mint Julep Masque is a refreshing facial treatment that helps relax tired muscles and ease tension lines on the face and neck.

The green clay-like mask which smells a lot like DoubleMint gums is housed in a easy-to-carry tube with screw top lid that prevents it from leaking. You might notice that in every product review I write, the packaging is given emphasis. It is because I have to bring the products with me every time I go to my dorm then back again when I go home for the weekends. So yeah, packaging is important. πŸ™‚
This mask is known for drying out pimples, removing gunk out of the skin and minimizing pores. A lot of reviews online say that the formulation of this mask is too drying for their skin type which made them stay clear of this product. But for me personally, since I have combination-dry skin type, I like how it removes excess oil without making my skin flaky. So yeah, I could say that the drying part is true but it’s the right kind of drying for me.
As for the removing gunk part, I can’t really attest to that since I haven’t really noticed anything. Same goes with their pore minimizing claims. I’ve been using this for 2 months now (2-3 time a week). Maybe with long term use (6 months minimum?) I’ll can fully deliberate its effectiveness. — Remind me to update this post. ;D
For immediate results, my skin feels soft and clean each time I use it. I look refreshed and glowing too! I don’t know if my eyes are playing a trick on me or what-not but my skin appears to be significantly lighter after washing my face. And oh! I like the tingling  sensation minutes into the mask treatment. And also the cooling menthol-like feeling when washing it off.
Excuse my awkward face. LOL!

TIP: (1) If you have dry skin, just apply Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque on your T-zone and not the entire face to help suck out excess oil without further drying your face. (2) If your skin feels stretched after using this, use your heavy duty moisturizer to lighten the feeling.
Have you tried this mask yet? Well, you should. *wink
