A lot of external factors affect our skin like the environment, the food we eat, our exercise habit, stress, skincare routine and whatnot. That said, not everyone is blessed with naturally radiant skin, especially not me. With the right diet and products, I’d like to think that I’m getting there but for the meantime, I might as well rely on products that are sure to give me that radiant glow in an instant. You know what they say, fake it until you make it. *wink!
Product Description:
Simplify your look this month with something light and fresh! The highlighting palette gives you an all-over sun kissed glow from day to night. It has complimentary shimmer shades which are easy to blend and enhance the complexion for a radiant sun kissed look. It works well as highlighter, eyeshadow and blush giving you a multi-dimensional sculpted look all rolled into a single useful palette.
First on my list for that instant glow is the Revlon Highlighting Palette. It comes in a square compact and each pan contains 5 different shades. The whole look and color combinations are actually reminiscent of the famous Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. Unfortunately, I don’t own one of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks so I can’t really compare, much less say that this Revlon Highlighting Palette is a dupe for the former.
What I can say, however, is that for a drugstore blush palette, this is actually pretty good. The packaging is sleek and simple, and the color selection is great as well. This Revlon Highlighting Palette is available in 3 shades: Bronze Glow, Peach Glow and Rose Glow. I only have 2 out of 3 shades.
The powder itself is velvety smooth and it applies on the skin like a dream. Each pan has complementary shimmer shades that are easy to blend and build depending on the depth I want. The shades per strip can be used individually as eyeshadow or even as highlighter, but its main purpose is to create multi-dimensional, sculpted look for the cheeks. I love how the shades really mix well with each other and how flattering they are on any skintone. Just sweep your brush across the palette to get that stunning mix of shades.
Peach Glow is a bevy of browns and beige shades with a common warm undertone for that sun-kissed glow. It has a light shimmer that gives a nice glow to the skin without being too “in your face” about it. The shimmer particles are very subtle and natural. The shades are very pigmented and they show up really well on morena skin.
This is the shade I usually go for during the summer season since it kinda gives me a subtle fake tan as if I just went to the beach. And not just any tan, a nice radiant tan at that! Not only that but it also helps in lightly sculpting my face. Peach Glow is perfect for Filipina skin because of the range of browns and the undertone. This is actually my favorite from the two, <3
Rose Glow, on the other hand, has a collection of pinks with pearl shimmers that are significantly bigger than on the previous shade. The colors are also not as pigmented and it causes quite a few fallout, probably because of the shimmer. But even with that, Rose Glow is still a lovely shade especially for those with fairer skin. It takes a few layers to really build up the color on morena skin but it shows up incredibly well on fair skin. It offers just the right hint of pink with a gorgeous touch of highlight to emphasize the cheekbones.
As much as I want to share photos of my wearing these lovely Revlon Highlighting Palettes, unfortunately the colors don’t translate well on photos unless I go overboard on apply them. But even then the photos won’t give justice to how beautiful the shades are. What is quite visible, however, is the glow it gives. It makes the skin look healthy, dewy and insanely radiant on photos without looking like a disco ball. I absolutely love it! For that, I’ll master how to take photos of myself wearing blushes and I’ll update this then. πŸ™‚
It is a rule of thumb that if you have oily skin, you should steer clear of highlighters because they magnify the enlarged pores and oiliness. But this Revlon Highlighting Palette is a refreshing exception. It is very forgiving and hardly emphasizes oiliness. If you have oily skin and are looking for a good highlighter, I highly recommend this. <3
