When I go out for a meeting, product presentation or stuff like that, my safest bet would always be my blue bolero paired with a sophisticated shade of red lipstick. I mean, nothing can exude confidence as much as red lipstick, right? Every girl knows it. It’s like the oldest trick in the book. *wink!
I’ve been “unintentionally” hoarding red lip sticks recently. Owning a couple tubes of similar shades of lipstick isn’t really so much of a waste for me because I know for a fact that they’ll come in handy when I start my OJT next semester. Okay.. before I get ahead of myself (again), allow me to share with you my thought on my current go-to red lipstick, Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet, which I got from one of my previous BDJ Boxes.
Get kissable with Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter. The hydrating mash-up of mango, shea and coconut butters boosts lip moisture by 156%, and the pampering gel formula glides on lips buttery smooth. Available in 20 luscious shades, from sheer to seriously colorful shine, Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter will give you a lot to smile about.
Much like the Revlon ColorBurst
lipsticks I reviewed way back (Read review HERE)
, my very first Lip Butter also came in a square tube with a slightly transparent quilted cap that covers almost the entirety of the tube. The packaging of the usual ColorBurst lipsticks made it easy to stack but this one took my “color organizing” thingy into a different level with its color-coded cap. The shade number and name are indicated at the bottom using a sticker. But you have to admit, the colored cap really does come in handy. Plus, I like how the tube itself twists and turns in a very fluid motion – it doesn’t lock or loosen up easily.
The shade I got was 040 Red Velvet. It is a deep, almost-wine, red shade that reminds me a lot of Colour Collection Vitamin E Lipstick in Red Wine (See reference HERE)
– only deeper. From the tube, it looks rather dark but once swatched, it appears warmer and more wearable. Basing from this shade alone, Lip Butters have very nice color payoff – this one is very pigmented and it gives a healthy sheen to the lips. And when I say sheen, I’m not referring to an oily pair of smackers as if you just slathered cooking oil on your lips. Rather, it’s a subtle, light gloss on the lips.
The Lip Butter in general is very smooth on the lips and it glides on effortlessly too. Another thing to love about this is that it is moisturizing in so many levels. It doesn’t accentuate cracks and nooks on the lips nor does it contribute to further dryness. Actually, if anything, it even helps hydrate my lips much like a regular lip balm to some extent.
By the way, the photo below was taken before my meeting with Because Inc. last month. The brand is relatively new but I’m sure you’ll thoroughly enjoy the products they’re going to introduce to the market soon.
Going back to Revlon Lip Butter, I’d say that Revlon Lip Butter has a decent staying power of about 3-4 hours. That alone is not mind-blowing but the stain it leaves makes it worth it. I like how it leaves my lips looking evenly tinted and not overly done. Perfect for those who, like me, have dark lip lines but are still lazy when it comes to retouching their makeup midday. 🙂
The verdict? Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet is so worth the price and is definitely a must-try! <3

I’m now considering buying different other shades of Revlon Lip Butter.
Hmm.. which shade would you recommend? 🙂
