Hey there ladies! I apologize for bombarding you with press release materials last night. I had the worst day yesterday so I couldn’t really pull myself together to write a descent review. Plus, I’ve been working on this lengthy Wet ‘n Wild MegaLast Lipsticks review for the past few days. It’s hard to swatch different lipsticks when every single one leaves a stain. Ugh! Anyway, here it is and as always, I hope you find it useful. 🙂
First, allow me to rant a little on Wet ‘n Wild MegaLast Lipsticks’ choice of packaging material and design. Well, in one word, they SUCK! The black plastic tube that twists to expose more of the lipstick easily breaks and chip off therefore rendering it completely and utterly useless. The lipstick bullet itself doesn’t go all the way down the black tube which makes it prone to chipping and all sorts of damage when replacing the clear cap in a hurry.
They always tell me that I get what I pay for and this particular brand is quite cheap. Go figure! But see, I’ve bought lipsticks from other brands before that were a lot cheaper than this but the packagings were way better than this. Oh well, at least the lipstick itself makes it worth buying.
Bare It All (902C) is a nude brown shade that complements almost any skin color. It’s neither too dark for those with fair skin tones nor too light for those with darker complexion. It doesn’t have pink hues in it – more on the neutral side – which makes it a great nude lip color.
Best paired with dramatic eyeliner look or intense smokey eye makeup to keep the attention on the eyes and just balance everything out.
Red Velvet (910D) is a bold and bright cherry red lipstick that has no orange hues whatsoever. The color isn’t intimidating at all so if you’re new to red lippies, you might want to warm up with this first. Definitely a great “pick me up” color. 🙂
Best paired with a classic pin-up looks or just a nicely winged liner.
Talk about vampy! Cherry Bomb (918D) is a deep, ox blood shade that comes across as a rich plum shade when applied lightly. It’s very gothic and punk rock. Let me tell you this much, this lip color speaks for itself! Very bold, daring and sexy at the same time!
Best paired with minimal eye makeup and contour/blush. But if you’re going for a more theatrical look then by all means, go all out with Cherry Bomb.
Mauve Outta Here (907C) is a very pretty pink shade with noticeable purple hints. It’s very wearable too. And unlike most of the swatches available online, this shade looks rather pink on me instead of a deep and brownish color. I dunno why, sorry!
Best paired with a simple everyday look – I use this everyday to school!
Dollhouse Pink (967) is a true cool-toned, Barbie pink shade that’s extremely vibrant and girly. The shade is kinda hard to pull off especially with my morena skin as it tends to wash me out and make my teeth look yellowish. But without a doubt, this would look incredible on girls with fairer skin.
Spiked With Rum (915B) is a muted medium brown shade with obvious hints of red – almost like a brick red shade. If you have dark lips like mine, you would really appreciate this. Surprisingly, this is the closest to my natural lip color.
If you want a nude lip color but Bare It All intimidates, you might like this next one. Just Peachy (903C) is a light peach shade with a touch of pink to achieve the perfect “my lips only better” color. It’s a lot like Bare It All but with slightly more color so as to avoid looking sick.
Best paired with dainty looks and simple everyday makeup for school.
Coral-ine (909D) is a bright reddish orange shade – it leans more on the orange side than coral. Although when worn on the lips, it just turns into a warm red shade on me.
Side-by-side swatches for your reference…
Just from the swatches you’ll know that the color payoff is incredible! They’re opaque and extremely pigmented – not only that but they also leave a nice stain on the lips when removed. Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipsticks, in general, are very creamy which makes them glide effortlessly on the lips. They’re soft but surprisingly, they don’t melt easily under extreme weather conditions. They yield a semi-matte, creamy finish with a slight sheen.
On average, Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipsticks last for 3-4 hours provided that I don’t eat/drink too much. The color does transfer a lot when I drink but the color on my lips remains the same for a good amount of time. It’s not drying on the lips too, at least for me! It doesn’t bleed, feather or accentuate lines too which makes it a good everyday lip product for me. 🙂
Price: Ranges from Php 148-300+
