I don’t have to tell you how crazy my schedule has been since January, but if there’s something I learned it’s that I only need two things to survive the seemingly fast-paced office setup. Well, at least in the beauty aspect. One, a skincare regimen that is as hardworking as I am and, two, easy to use makeup for mornings when I barely have time to shower.

You know I have this habit of online window shopping when work becomes too much to bear. During one of my weak moments, I decided to actually checkout the things I put on my cart instead of just leaving it there until the urge of spending is gone. Sephora PH, made me do it! Oh, you know how much I love Sephora. I remember I used to order from the US and have it shipped to my tita in New York just to get my hands on brands/products that were not yet available locally. Good thing they finally recognized the booming beauty industry in the Philippines and that we need a more accessible version of Sephora.

I’ve always loved Burt’s Bees products especially their Tomato Toner so I decided to try some of their products that are a bit new to me – didn’t even know they had BB Cream! Anyway, I’ve only used them for a little over a week so this is more like a haul-slash-initial-review kind of post.

So, living by my new philosophy, I bought 4 products:

First is the Anti-Blemish Purifying Daily Gel Cleanser (P995). This is mild, gel-type facial wash contains willow bark that naturally contains salicylic acid and BHA, both known to cure acne. It promises to help reduce and prevent acne by acting as an exfoliator to unclog the pores.

I don’t really get much pimples (Thank God!) but when stress level is high, my skin gets erratic so it’s always best to switch to anti-acne products. As they say, prevention is better than cure. I’m at the office almost 16 hours a day, 6 days a week for the past few months and so far, still no major breakouts. Good job, skin!

I also got the Anti-Blemish Daily Moisturizing Lotion (P1,595) to complement my facial cleanser. Aside from willow bark, this also has lemongrass and witch hazel that helps calm the skin.

Overall, I like how the facial cleanser doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry and stretched out after use. It’s very gentle on the skin which makes it perfect for those with sensitive skin. The lotion, on the other hand, is very light on the skin. It is easily absorbed and doesn’t leave any greasy or oily film on the skin. The hint of minty scent is a plus for me, too! I find it refreshing.

For the makeup side, I decided to get a BB Cream (P1,695) – no surprise there! –  and a Lip Crayon (P695) in Redwood Forest.

I personally prefer BB Creams over foundation for usual working days so as not to look overly done but at the same time, still presentable. The Burt’s Bees BB Cream, in particular, is not as lightweight as I hoped it would be.

It’s on the thicker side making it more challenging to blend, but the coverage does make up for it. I noticed how it is able to cover minor blemishes with just 1 layer so concealer becomes optional. And it lasts longer than most bb creams, too! It stays intact for a good 6-8 hours but I have to blot excess oil on the 6th hour mark.

The lip crayon, on the other hand, doesn’t stay on as long. Maybe 4 hours at best and that’s without eating. What I like about it is that it’s as moisturizing as a lip balm but has better color payoff than tinted balms. It has a nice, healthy sheen to it, too.

Redwood Forest is a lovely brick red shade with a slight brown undertone that is universally flattering. Although it’s not as opaque, the color is very buildable.

So far I’m happy with my new Burt’s Bees products. I’ve been using them on a daily basis since I got my hands on them. However, I’m not sure if they’re available in their local stores so if you’re interested in trying them out, you might want to check out Burt’s Bees on Sephora PH.

Now that I mentioned it, Sephora PH offers free shipping to orders above P1,300 and they have a lot of items on sale, too! If you’re worried about the delivery time, I got mine in less than 4 days, including the weekend. That’s a lot faster than having orders shipped to NY before having them delivered to our doorstep!
