This will just be a quick post because I know most of you are already packing your bags. It seems like a lot will be heading to the beach this long weekend so before you go, I’d like the share my go-to products for that summer-ready, water-proof makeup. As much I want to look au natural during outings, I still want to look pretty in photos. Well, who doesn’t, right?
Here’s a list of products I use for that hassle-free makeup for outings. They’re very easy to apply – I can do my whole makeup in less than 5 minutes! It’s very minimal and the end result looks as natural as it can be. Best part is that you won’t even have to worry about it melting or smudging throughout the day. They stay intact for hours! So unless you’re going clubbing or somewhere special at night, there’s really no need to retouch.
The products below are tried and tested by me of course – I wouldn’t recommend them if I haven’t. These babies passed: spelunking/caving in Sagada, trekking in Quezon Province, city touring in Ilocos Norte, diving in Zambales and the latest, the Shakey’s 5k Marathon. If that’s not impressive enough, I don’t know what is. Click on the product names to be directed to individual reviews. 😀
Shiseido UV Protect Liquid Foundation SPF43 & Shiseido UV Protect Liquid Compact Foundation SPF35 I’ve been gushing over these products from Shiseido every since I got a hold of them last year! The only reason I haven’t emptied both of them yet is that they’re a bit darker than what I normally use – makes them even better for summer! Woohoo! The liquid foundation is watery and lightweight but don’t be fooled; it offers medium to heavy coverage and is absolutely water-proof! The powder, on the other hand, has sheerer coverage but with a nice demi-matte finish. I like that it’s not completely matte so as to keep it on the natural side. And look, both have massive SPF content to boot!
Ben Nye Neutral Set Colorless Powder. This is pretty much optional for me given how long lasting the Shiseido duo above is. But I love setting my makeup with this when I know I’ll be sweating and oiling up a lot throughout the day. The brand Ben Nye made a huge wave late year for its Banana Luxury Powder but if you ask me, this colorless setting powder is much better in so many levels. Truly very impressive in keeping oil at bay! Those who are on the oilier side would very much love this.
K-Palette Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow & Majolica Majorca Brow Colorist. You know how addicted I am to brow products (it may not look like it though, haha) and amongst everything that I have at the moment, these two topped the bill when it comes to being water-proof, or water-resistant at the very least. It’s true what they say about K-Palette Brow products; they are indeed budge-proof! I can sweat buckets or even go swimming and still expect my brows to look complete afterwards. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
The Majolica Majorca Colorist isn’t as long lasting but still nothing short of being impressive. It’s actually part of my everyday routine – it keeps my browns in place and gives it a nice tint as well. It basically makes any regular product stay on longer. It’s not water-proof but it can withstand sweating. Good enough for me! 🙂 And oh, without this, the K-Palette looks unnatural on me so I just gotta have this on, ‘ya know. <3
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain. Lip stains are perfect for summer! They’re low-maintenance, forgiving to slightly dry lips and incredibly long lasting. These Revlon Lip Stains are exactly that. Plus the crayon-like packaging makes it even easier to apply! They’re very pigmented, too, so what I normally do to make it look effortless is that instead of swiping it over my lips, I apply it with a dabbing motion then top it off with a lip balm.
Now this can be tricky. Since I won’t be wearing mascara or eyeliner on the lash line, tight lining would have to do. It makes the lashes appear significantly thicker without looking fake. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. UD 24/7 Glide-On is very creamy so it glides on smoothly which is always a nice thing, of course. The downside to that is that it can smudge easily, too. In my case, I only use it to tightline the inner portion of the upper lash line so even if it smudges, it has nowhere to go. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use it to line the upper lash line or the waterline for it WILL smudge when you go swimming.
Jazzy France Dame de Coeur Color StayCheek tints offer better wear time than powder or even cream blushes, no question about that. What I like about this new Jazzy France release is that, when applied before powder and foundation, it really latches on the skin. Just blend it properly and you’ll get that perpetually flushed cheeks for the entire day.
And oh, since were on the topic of summer outings and swimming, ZALORA has a huge selection of swimwear including rash guards. You might want to check that out in case you need a few pieces to complete summer essentials. Also, my top 5 sunblocks will be up soon so keep your eyes peeled for that as well. 😀
That’s it for my list. I hope this comes in handy for your out-of-town trip this summer. Stay fresh and pretty even under the scorching hot sun! <3 How about you, what’s in your summer getaway makeup kit? 😀
